Bethesda Softworks has announced the release date for the new downloadable content (DLC) for its third-person survival horror game The Evil Within and unveiled a short teaser to boot.

The game publisher says The Consequence will be available on Tuesday, April 21, in the U.S. for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. Gamers in Europe will be able to download the new content the following day, April 22.

The Consequence is the second installment in the trio of DLCs for The Evil Within, which gamers can pick up for free if they have a $19.99 season pass. Gamers can also purchase The Consequence as a standalone item for $9.99. The new content comes after The Assignment, which was unveiled last month and released on March 10, and builds upon the previous DLC's plot.

The Assignment focuses on the story of Juli Kidman, partner to The Evil Within's protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, and the mysteries surrounding the detective and her relation to Mobius. Bethesda incorporated more focus on stealth gameplay mechanics in The Assignment, while also introducing new enemies and tactics. The game publisher did not say much about what The Consequence will be all about, except that it will continue to unravel the secrets of Kidman's story.

"If you've already completed part one of Juli Kidman's adventure and are dying to know what happens next... and we're happy to inform you won't have to wait long to see her story through," says a Bethesda spokesperson in a blog post. "Since it's only been a couple of weeks since The Assignment released, we don't want to spoil too much of what's happening next - there would assuredly be consequences for that."

Instead, Bethesda released a short teaser to work up gamers who are waiting for the upcoming DLC. And by short, we really mean a very short teaser only 19 seconds long, with most of it is composed of an ESRB warning or The Evil Within logo. Throughout the entire seven seconds that Bethesda shows something, Kidman is seen walking down the train tracks at a town called Paranoia, towards a moving train speedily rushing ahead towards her.

"I'm not running this time," she says.

The Evil Within was developed by Tango Gameworks and released in October 2014 to generally positive reviews. In the U.S., it became the biggest-selling new survival horror game upon release, but its record was quickly broken by Warner Bros.' Dying Light this January.

The third and final DLC, The Executioner, is said to be in the works and will let gamers play the Keeper through a series of mission-based levels that aim after a set of evil objectives.
