Mazda has finally announced the much-awaited pricing details of the new 2016 MX-5 Miata. Starting at around $25K, the price seems to have differed a little from the cost of the 2015 Miata, which should please fans.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a convertible-type vehicle that is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.0 liter engine that is capable of pumping out 155 hp and 148 pounds per feet of torque. Standard features include LED headlights, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, power door locks, a leather-wrapped shift knob and more.

Compared with its predecessor, the 2016 MX-5 is smaller and lighter, which could only mean that it delivers more speed. For the first time in the U.S., the Miata's standard gearbox will come with a six-speed manual. It is also expected that the new MX-5 Miata will outperform its older sibling, although there are no official numbers yet to support that speculation.

The 2016 Mazda Miata will be offered in a trio of trims. The base model will be labeled as "Sport." Drivers looking for added performance will find the "Club" model their best option. The third trim, "Grand Touring," will feature leather seating and other amenities. Naturally, each trim will have its own unique price tag that may reach upwards of nearly $29K for the Club and $32K for the Grand Touring. The prices don't include the power retractable hard-top feature, which could cost around $1,500.

"The Sport model is for those desiring a pure, lightweight, unadulterated wind-in-the-hair driving experience," said MX-5 vehicle line manager Rod McLaughlin of MNAO. "MX-5 Club is for those seeking a more aggressive appearance and driving experience and Grand Touring models are for loyal MX-5 owners who seek premium amenities and a driving experience that only MX-5 can deliver."

The new MX-5 had a series of unveilings in 2014, when Mazda brought the car at simultaneous events held in the U.S., Japan and Spain. In March 2015, Mazda released a virtual Miata on the Xbox One as a car pack for the game Forza Horizon 2. Players were also given the opportunity to win an actual MX-5 Miata after joining the game's Time Trial Rivals Contest.

The 2016 MX-5 Miata will have a starting price of $24,915, and an additional charge of $825 will serve as a destination fee. The car is set to hit roads in summer, starting in Japan in June before arriving in the U.S.
