Game of Thrones is confusing, to say the least. What with a multitude of settings, characters and plots, it's hard to keep track of it all. And with the fifth season of the TV series airing next month, some of us could be lost on what happened in the first four seasons.

There are a few options, of course, that could get you caught up. You could watch (or re-watch) the previous four seasons on DVD or invest in the books (which would take months to read).

Of course, there's an easier way to get caught up. Whether you're new to the series or a fan of it and the books, these websites will help you keep names, places and events straight and prepare you for season five when it airs next month.

HBO's Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide

Where else to start with than the official viewer's guide for Game of Thrones? HBO has put together an amazing guide that takes you through each episode. There is also a feature that gives you full rundowns of each character on the series, as well as details on their houses. Most impressive is a map that shows the settings of the series, as well as the history of the Game of Thrones universe.

Of course, the guide also features links to each episode on HBO GO for those who have access to the service. So you can always watch a few episodes to get caught up, too.

Game of Thrones Catch-Up Machine

Want the quick and dirty way to get caught up on the series? The Catch-Up Machine has got you covered. Even better, you can choose to just remember those things that you forgot or you can go for full-on spoilers so you'll know what happens next. You'll find information categorized here by house, so you'll need to know a little about what you're looking for before you search. However, the spoilers catch you up on the books, so you'll have insider knowledge as to what's going to happen on season five of the series.

Game of Thrones Map

This is the most complete Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire map you're ever going to see. It's even more detailed than the map on HBO's viewer's guide website. This map covers both the series and the books, so it's a great way to find out what's going to happen before events unfold on the TV series. The map also gives you full character paths so you can track each character through their plotlines, but you can also find out what happens in various locations throughout the series' and books' universe.

This site connects with A Wiki of Ice and Fire, which contains a full Wikipedia-like knowledgebase of everything we know about the A Song of Ice and Fire books.

Tower of the Hand

This website covers the A Song of Ice and Fire books and gives you a rundown of each book's chapter, character and place. Of course, by next season, this information becomes obsolete as the HBO series will catch up to the books, but for now, it's still a good site to get all your spoilery information.

The season five premiere of Game of Thrones airs on HBO on Sunday, April 12.
