Madonna is no stranger to awkward moments on stage, but her latest stunt at Coachella earned the Material Girl more than just a few mentions online.

Concert goers at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival received a pleasant surprise when Madonna made a guest appearance during Drake's performance of "Madonna."

In one of their sequences, Madonna tilted Drake's head back then suddenly planted a big kiss on the rapper. Judging from Drake's reaction, it looked like the kiss caught him off guard. When he tried to lift a hand up to Madonna's head, the pop queen swatted it away. After the lip-locking action, Drake simply said, "Oh, shit. What the f--k just happened?"

In a recent interview, Madonna said that her dream was to go on a date with Drake and kiss him.

The impromptu Drake-Madonna kiss at Coachella is the latest in a long line of awkward and shocking celebrity smooches.

Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera

The wet one on Drake was not the first time Madonna kissed a fellow pop star. At the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Madge performed a medley of "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood" with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. After the song, the pop queen gave each of her heirs apparent a lip smack to end the night.

Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson

Another female tandem has shared an awkward on-stage lip lock. This time, the smooch was between Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson at the MTV Movie Awards in 2010. Sandra later said in an interview: "Ryan [Reynolds] is right - Scarlett is a great kisser."

Adrien Brody and Halle Berry

When actor Adrien Brody received an Oscar for Best Actor for The Pianist at the 75th Academy Awards, he scooped up more than just a golden trophy that night. As he made his way on stage, he greeted the presenter, Halle Berry, with an embrace and a surprising smooch. The actress was left visibly stunned but gamely smiled as she tried to fix her lipstick.

Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley

Awkward kissing at MTV awards nights has become somewhat of a tradition, with the Madonna-Britney-Christina smack in 2003 and the Sandra Bullock-Scarlett Johansson smooch in 2010. The one that started it all, however, was the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.

In 1994, MTV asked MJ to be a presenter at the awards. When he walked out on stage with his then-girlfriend Lisa Marie Presley and made his opening remarks, the people in the audience anticipated a show of affection from the new couple. This came in the form of a very cringe-worthy kiss after a few awkward moments.
