There's something for almost everyone in the Free App of the Day Bundle, but many consumers will find it easy to pass up the selection of software included in the promotion. Still, it's all free.

This isn't the first time Amazon has selected a bundle of Android apps and made them free for those who use its app store. Last June, Amazon gave away 31 apps worth a total of $100.

The Free App of the Day bundles are an extension of Amazon's Free App of the Day promotions, which unlocks a premium app each day. The strategy is in place to remind those who forget Amazon that runs a formidable app store, despite it having the girth of Google Play.

Amazon has been aggressively driving consumers to its app store and has run afoul of Google in doing so. Last fall, Google booted the Amazon App Store from Google Play and cited its Developer Distribution Agreement (DDA) as its reason.

"You may not use the Store to distribute or make available any Product which has a purpose that facilitates the distribution of software applications and games for use on Android devices outside of the Store," stated Google in section 4.5 of the DDA.

Amazon complied with the order, though it stated that the rug had been pulled out from under it.

"Google subsequently changed their Developer Distribution Agreement on September 25," stated Amazon. "As a result, we removed the app from Google Play and published the Amazon Shopping app."
