NetherRealm has shoved the dangling entrails backside of Mortal Kombat X and patched the game up with a pair of updates. Meanwhile, observant gamers have noticed that the series' first discernibly gay character appears in the game.

Patch 1.02 addresses several gameplay issues, while a PC specific patch addresses performance issues.

Shown are the notes for Patch 1.02:

  • General - Throws, regular or command grabs, will no longer sometimes connect on a grounded reacting opponent off a counter hit.
  • Shinnok (Impostor) - Shinnok can now control the location of a stolen Goro Stomp.
  • Subzero (Grandmaster) - Combos on a grounded opponent frozen by the Ice Klone will now scale properly.
  • Takeda (Ronin) - Added a new move "Quick Kall" -- Down, Towards, Front Punch -- which quickly returns a dropped blade without doing an attack.
  • Takeda (Shirai Ryu) - Takeda will now always teleport to the other side when doing the Air Shirai Ryu Port.

NetherRealm issued an apology to PC players for the performance issues they have been experiencing. The studio awarded PC players each with a cache of Krypt Koins and released a patch that addresses the following issues:

  • Optimized shaders to improve graphics performance
  • Fixed an issue to prevent replays from using up too much hard drive storage space

"We truly appreciate your patience as we worked through Tuesday's launch issues with the PC version of the game," stated a NetherRealm spokesperson. "Giving our fans a fun and smooth experience is very important to us, and as a thank you, we will be granting an extra 10,000 Krypt Koins to all PC players."

While the patch hasn't impressed many Mortal Kombat X players, some were thrilled:

And rounding up the latest news on Mortal Kombat X, players found out about the sexual orientation of the series' new comer Kung Jin. Jin, in a flashback, worries that the other Shaolin monks won't accept him. However, Raiden assures him that the rest of the group cares on about what's in his heart and not about who his heart desires.

Dominic Cianciolo, NetherRealm's cinematic director, confirmed the theory in a tweet.
