It's barely been a week since OnePlus started the roll out of the much-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop based Cyanogen OS 12 update for its One smartphone, but now the company has abruptly halted the update to add a new feature.

That's right. OnePlus has paused the Cyanogen OS 12 update to include the "OK OnePLus" feature.

Only a lucky few managed to download the Cyanogen OS 12 while others awaited the OTA update which the company pushed out on April 14.

The news of the Cyanogen OS 12 being halted comes straight from the horse's mouth i.e. Carl Pei, the co-founder of One Plus. Carl Pei shared via a Twitter post that the OTA update had been paused so as to add the "OK OnePlus" feature which is a voice command feature.

"OTA rollout was paused due to new "OK OnePlus" feature being added. Should resume mid-week," read the Twitter post from Pei, which has strangely disappeared now.

The OK OnePlus feature for the One is similar to Google's voice search and will be operational even when a user's phone is in sleep mode. So basically, the OK OnePlus feature will enable users to say "O.K. OnePlus" in order to activate some capabilities of the OnePlus One smartphone. So even if your phone's screen is off, the OK OnePlus feature would still work.

With Pei letting on that the OTA software update roll out for the One will resume mid-week, the smartphone's users can breathe easy. For those unable to wait for the software update and keen on installing Cyanogen OS 12 right away Pei suggests that you flash the same manually.

"Those who don't want to wait, feel free to flash manually," tweeted Pei.

The OnePlus forum has a handy guide that shows you how to install the update manually.

One user who received the OTA Cyanogen OS 12 update or have manually installed the update will likely have to reinstall the same when the OK OnePLus feature is pushed out.

Makes you wonder wouldn't it have been simpler if OnePlus pushed out a maintenance patch to introduce the new feature once the current rollout was through?
