To say Lucas Hinch got a bit peeved at his troublesome PC would be an understatement. The Colorado Springs resident decided his computer had failed him one too many times, so he used a handgun to teach his PC a valuable lesson.

Now, he is awaiting a court decision on the punishment he will receive over his alleged PC murder.

There is likely no law on the books for killing a computer, but then again this is Colorado, the first state to legalize medical marijuana. Irresponsible conduct with a weapon and overall gun safety laws may, however, bring some sort of fine or community service punishment for Hinch.

Some reports are actually calling the event a "revenge" crime. The 37-year-old told police he hit his breaking point in fighting with his computer.

Colorado police stated the incident is described as a defendant being "fed up with fighting his computer for the last several months," an account concisely headlined as "Man Kills His Computer." Apparently, the common reboot fix of hitting Control + Alt + Delete wasn't working well that Monday night.

The incident, however, wasn't completely spur of the moment or a pure act of passion gone sour. It could even fall under premeditation, given Hinch unplugged his victim and lugged it outside into an alley to carry out his murderous plot.

Hinch then shot the PC eight times. Someone apparently heard the shots and called the police. Hinch was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits after what police described as "effectively disabling" his PC.

One local media report says Hinch said he didn't realize he would be breaking the law in killing his PC.

"He was having technology problems, so he took it to the back alley and destroyed it," stated a police spokesperson.
