The Galaxy Note Edge Android 5.0 Lollipop software update for T-Mobile should be coming soon, as the carrier has moved the update from manufacturer development to carrier testing on its operating system software update page.

Samsung has been very busy lately, developing and releasing OS software updates for its wide range of smartphones. The company began with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop for its most recent releases and flagship smartphones and tablets, which includes the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge.

The Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge were released last September and have proven to be a big hit with consumers. The Note Edge is differentiated from its sibling by virtue of its one-sided curved display, which paved the way for the two-sided curved display now featured on the newly- released Galaxy S6 Edge.

The most recent OS update for the Note 4 and Note Edge to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop has not been without its issues. Many owners of the phablets have been complaining of performance issues with their handsets following the upgrade, including battery drain, overheating, forced reboots and closing of apps. Some customers even complain that their phones have been bricked as a result of the upgrade.

T-Mobile seems to be taking a cautious approach with the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop to the devices as a result of these issues, and it is the only U.S carrier that has not released the software update for the Galaxy Note 4. It also joins Verizon as the only two carriers not to release or confirm an imminent Note Edge update.

Now, it appears the carrier is preparing to roll out the Galaxy Note Edge Android 5.0 Lollipop update on its network soon, as it has moved the device from the manufacturer development phase into carrier testing on its software update page. This is the final phase prior to rollout, and in the case of other devices, once T-Mobile has listed them in the carrier-testing phase, it has rolled out the update only a few weeks after. The Galaxy Note 4 has been in this phase for some time now, so customers can expect a rollout for both devices soon if all goes smoothly with the testing.

Hopefully, that will be the case given the issues and problems the devices have had with the new OS. One of the largest Australian carriers, Vodafone, recently announced that their internal testing of the Note 4 failed and it has delayed rollout of Android 5.0 to the device.
