On a quest to find the best headset for gaming on the PlayStation 4 console?

Here's the good news: there are plenty of products to choose from.

And here's the bad news: It will take some investigation and serious reading to figure out which headset is the best fit for your own audio wants and needs of the PS4.

But here's even more good news: Tech Times is going to help you and make your quest easier.

As gamers know, it doesn't just take hand-eye coordination and strategy to beat an opponent. Oftentimes, audio plays a key role in understanding the game scenario and interacting with fellow gamers and opponents.

The challenge is finding the right headset — but prices can vary as much as design and fit, and there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to headset technology. So we started by taking a look at the Turtle Beach Ear Force PX 4 Wireless, the Tritton Kunai headset and the Kingston Hyper X Cloud technology, digging around the product reviews and feedback. Chime in on the comments if you have personal feedback to share or any other product recommendations.

One solid piece of advice: a headset is not something to buy online, unless you've been to a retail store and have actually tested the product for yourself. Just like shoes, headsets are made by different manufacturers and one shoe brand's size 9 doesn't fit like another, and while budget and cost can be a reflection of higher quality, just like shoes —sometime the cheapest pair can be the most comfortable and popular.

Turtle Beach Ear Force PX 4 Wireless

Starting at a price of $149.95, the Turtle Beach Ear Force PX4 offers 100 percent wireless Bluetooth chat audio with thick, padded-mesh ear cushions built for "marathon" game sessions.

"Headsets aren't just great for games. Use your headset for listening to movies or TV in cinematic surround sound from video services like Netflix and Hulu Plus or Blu-Ray Disc. Then crank up your tunes on music services," states the product description.

Receiving a 4.5 out of 5 potential stars on one review, the PX4 is described as "a wireless headset that's as comfortable to wear as it is to listen to — especially that surround stage. Worth every penny." The pluses include "crystalline" sound, a reassuring build strategy and being "hugely comfortable." The downside, as cited in the review, is more than just minimal: there is no button voice-over.

Tritton Kunai

The Tritton Kunai may be a better option for the more budget-conscious, as the price starts at $49.99 and ranges upward to $69.99. The product description notes it was built for Sony gaming consoles, designed for "extreme comfort." The headset also provides an extra 1.25 inches on either side to accommodate a wide range of head sizes.

"Whether your game of choice is Halo 4, League of Legends, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, or Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the Kunai will transform your online gaming experience by opening up the lines of communication with remote gamers," states the product description.

The headset is highly recommended in one review: "Right out of the box I noticed the Kunai headset felt very high quality. It feels like a sturdy headset and not some cheap little toy like so many other "value" headsets turn out to be." The reviewer calls the audio capability "awesome," and says the well-padded ear cups make extended use comfortable.

"For $49.99 I would definitely recommend this headset for PS4 gamers. It's very affordable while still providing good quality and several features," the reviewer adds.

Kingston HyperX Cloud

As Kingston describes its headset, the HyperX Cloud is a product that won't hurt — either in wear or on your wallet, given that pricing starts at around $70.

"Let your opponents take the blows while you game without pain," states the product description, noting "it's affordable, so there's no pain in the price either," with the headset delivering "intense audio." Another big plus, claims Kingston, is "you'll look cool while playing, thanks to the unique HyperX design available in black or white. There's a detachable microphone and it's compatible with PS4 plus desktops, mobile devices and even airplane adapters."

As one review notes, "Just like the name. Feels like a cloud." Another review states the headset provides "full-bodied sound that places greater emphasis on lows and highs, with excellent passive noise cancellation intended to prevent audio leakage."

The lone drawbacks cited by another review include the lack of USB support and no surround sound.
