For a long time now, one of the biggest mysteries behind Jurassic World has been the "Indominus Rex" — otherwise known as the genetically modified super-dinosaur that's set to make its debut in the upcoming film. It's been featured in every piece of media released so far, and yet ... no one's actually seen it.

The folks over at Universal have been treating the movie's big bad dino like something out of a monster movie, and it's been working: fans everywhere are itching to see what the final version of the dino will look like.

Most people assumed that Universal would wait until the movie debuted to show off the Indominus Rex, but it looks like that's not the case: as part of their May cover story, Empire was scheduled to reveal the Indominus Rex — though, as usual, photos have leaked online a bit earlier than expected.

As such, fans are getting their first real look at Jurassic World's new monster. SPOILER WARNING: if you'd rather wait to see what the Indominus Rex looks like on the big screen, turn back now.

Alright, is everyone good? Without any further adieu, here is the Indominus Rex:

Well, it certainly looks like a dinosaur.

As with any CG shot, any real judgement should be reserved until it's seen in motion, but all things considered ... it looks pretty gnarly. There's definitely a more villainous quality to it — while the T-Rex has always looked like a vicious killer, the I-Rex (which just doesn't have the same ring to it) definitely looks a bit smarter than its predecessor.

It's probably got something to do with those grabby little claws ...

Jurassic World and the Indominus Rex are scheduled to hit theaters on June 12.
