Users of Samsung's Galaxy S5 and S4 smartphones have been experiencing major performance issues including battery drain, overheating, freezing and lagging apps, since receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop. One of Samsung's regional branches has actually admitted the problems exist and claims the company is working on solutions.

We've been reporting on various issues and problems being experienced by users of Samsung's former flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4. Among the most widespread issues are rapid loss of battery charge, overheating of the device, and frozen or lagging apps.

While these issues have been reported since the rollout of the update to the phones months ago, uses are still reaching out to various message boards and Tech Times to complain.

"Yes. I am experiencing all the issues and it is annoying. The overheating is unbearable and it burns my cheeks when I make or receive a call. The battery drains fast and I have to charge the phone 3 times a day. All these problems came after the upgrade," complained one Verizon user. Another chimed in recently; " I used to only have to charge my battery every other day. Now I do good to make it through an entire day before draining the battery. I have also experienced the overheating issues."

Galaxy S4 users who have received the update have similar complaints:" I have the same problem on my AT&T S4, I updated it last night and used it today and the battery is horrible, it goes down about 1% per 5 min. And that's if I just have it on the home screen. My contacts keep crashing and the performance seems to have decreased."

It's not just U.S. users who have been experiencing these types of problems with their phones after downloading the update. International Galaxy S5 and S4 users have similar issues, and the regional UK mobile branch of Samsung went so far as to actually acknowledge them to its customers via a tweet, which claimed they are addressing the issues: "Our engineers are currently sending out micro updates to help resolve any issues caused by the update. Thanks for your patience."

So far, however, those micro updates seem to be either missing or ineffective as complaints about the problems and issues continue to flood the Internet. Many users are expressing a desire to go back to Android 4.4 Kit Kat, the instructions for which can be found in our recent article on the subject.

Are you experiencing similar issues with the update on your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S4? Has there been any improvement recently? Let us know in the comments below.
