Holy guacamole! Chipotle just blew the lid off one of their biggest secrets. On Sunday, the popular Mexican chain revealed on their website the recipe to their prized guacamole.

Perfect on top of a burrito bowl, inside a burrito, on top of a taco, or as a dip with some chips, guacamole is one of the staples of a good Mexican meal.

Now we all know that adding guacamole to our burritos costs extra, so having the exact recipe is pretty much like landing the food lottery since we all can know prepare our own Chipotle guac right from our homes.

Just in time to serve with chips and salsa at your Cinco de Mayo party (and don't forget the margaritas!), this guacamole recipe is relatively easy-to-make if you are no stranger to the kitchen.

But if you a newbie foodie, you might miss out on the fact there actually is nothing spectacular about this recipe. There is no secret ingredient that is added to make Chipotle's blend stand out from the thousands of other guacamole recipes we see on the internet and in cookbooks.

Still, Chipotle credits why its guac is so delicious to the fact that the chain uses the "best whole ingredients possible," and it is then mashed together on location.

All you need to make Chipotle's guacamole is :

• 2 ripe Hass avocados (In the restaurant, we use 48 per batch, multiple times per day)
• 2 tsp lime juice
• 2 tbsp cilantro (chopped)
• 1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)
• 1/2 jalapeño, including seeds (finely chopped)
• 1/4 tsp kosher salt

Here's how to make Chipotle's guacamole:

Step 1

The most important part to any good guac is choosing the perfect avocado. Make sure the avocado is "squishy yet firm," and that it's a dark green color inside.

Step 2

Cut the avocado in half and remove the pit.

Step 3

Scoop the green of the avocados out and place into a medium bowl.

Step 4

Coat the avocado with 2 tsp. of lime juice.

Step 5

Sprinkle in 1/4 tsp. of kosher salt, and begin mashing with a fork until smooth.

Step 6

Fold in 2 tbsp. of chopped cilantro, 1/4 cup of finely chopped red onion and 1/2 of finely chopped jalapeno.

Step 7

Taste "over and over" and adjust or add any ingredients if necessary.

Since guacamole at Chipotle is $1.80, you can save close to $200 if you eat at the casual fast food chain twice a week. Store your homemade Chipotle guac in a container and place into the freezer to serve when you are ready--whether it's for your Cinco de Mayo fiesta, or any time you are craving some avocodaos.
