There are a lot of excited Star Wars fans out there, and not just because the new movie is set for release later this year. One of the most beloved Star Wars video game series, Battlefront, is set to make a grand comeback in 2015, and fans everywhere are pumped for it to finally see the light of day.

Well...most of them, at least.

While it's easy to assume that the vast majority of gamers are excited for a chance to return to Battlefront, many players are worried that the game won't be able to live up to its heritage. Electronic Arts and DICE, creators of the extremely popular (and similarly-named) Battlefield series, are behind the Battlefront reboot - and some fans are worried that the studios are simply going to release a Star Wars-themed clone of the military shooter franchise.

DICE has been quick to squash many a rumor, but the idea of Battlefront becoming Battlefield is a real concern for fans.

Thankfully, there's some good news: the new Battlefront won't be ditching its arcade-shooter roots, as DICE confirmed that the game will not feature Battlefield's ironsights-based aiming system.

In an interview with Official Xbox Magazine (via GamesRadar), DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront wouldn't feature the same aiming system as Battlefield:

"There are no ironsights in Star Wars, on the ordinary blasters...You have scopes on some rifles, but there are no ironsights."

While it sounds like a minor change, a game's aiming system can have a drastic effect on the overall feel. For comparison, look at Battlefield and Halo, two of the biggest shooters on the market: Battlefield features ironsights, which slows the gameplay down into something more tactical, whereas Halo's lack of ironsights gives the game a more arcade-like feel. Battlefront always featured the latter, and that'll continue in the upcoming reboot.

The news should come as huge relief to fans worried that Battlefront and Battlefield would end up being the same game. The lack of ironsights is just the latest piece of evidence that the two games will indeed be different, as players will also be able to switch between first- and third-person viewpoints in Battlefront - something that Battlefield has never allowed players to do.

While actually gameplay has yet to make its debut, it's likely that fans won't have much longer to wait: EA has confirmed its press conference plans for E3, and you can bet that Battlefront will have a big presence at this year's show.

Star Wars Battlefront will hit store shelves this November.
