To mark the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo videogame, Peugeot has specially designed the Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo supercar.

The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo is no ordinary concept car as it has insane acceleration and takes stepping on the gas pedal to a whole new level altogether — the prototype car takes barely 1.73 seconds to accelerate to 62 miles per hour! This speed can easily give any F1 car a run for its hard earned money!

On Wednesday, May 6, Peugeot introduced the prototype Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo, which will come as a free update for the impending PS3 title Gran Turismo 6.

So, how did Peugeot come up with the notion of a supercar? Kazunori Yamauchi, the man behind the Gran Turismo videogame's design, threw the car maker a challenge to develop a car that would commemorate the game's 15th anniversary.

With over 15 cars as part of the popular video game's lineup, Peugeot rose to the challenge and came up with the low-riding car that is 3.4 feet tall. The automaker's designers and engineers worked on the supercar, which is a fitting commemoration to the game's anniversary.

The sleek vehicle hardly has any aerodynamic features and it's the "body design alone" that enables the Vision Gran Turismo to stick to the roads.

Wondering what gives the powerful Vision Gran Turismo its super speed? The answer lies in the 1:1 power to weight ratio of the vehicle, which weighs just 1,929 lbs. The digital vehicle also boasts a powerful 3.2-liter V6 engine that can produce 875 horse power. It also has a six-speed gearbox and is four-wheel drive.

The Vision Gran Turismo prototype also boasts 22-inch wheels and 23-inch ones in the front and rear, respectively.

While no date for the release of Gran Turismo 6 has been announced, Gran Turismo says to expect it "very soon."
