Spring is finally here, which means "wedding season" is in full effect. But as much as we enjoy sharing a couple's biggest day with them, we can't help but fall instantly in love with all the new bundles of joy making their debut.

The world can't get enough of Prince William and Kate Middleton's new baby, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, who was born last week. And it seems like many parents have taken to her name as well — Charlotte made the top 10 list of popular baby names last year.

So what are the current favorites among new parents?

According to the annual list from the Social Security Administration, both boys and girls names in 2014 featured some popular throwbacks to the '40s and '50s, such as Charlotte and James.

As far as baby girls go, Emma earned the top spot: 20,799 girls given the name. This is Emma's return to the baby name throne after last being crowned in 2008. Some of the name's popularity can be attributed to pop cultural significance, such as Jennifer Aniston's character Rachel on Friends naming her daughter Emma, and Emma Watson rising to fame with the Harry Potter movies.

Although the name hasn't consistently been in first place, it has remained in the top three since 2003. And it was also no. 1 back in 1900 — making Emma a timeless choice.

The most popular boy name in 2014 goes to Noah: 19,144 newborns received the name last year. James – the most popular name in 1952 – made a comeback to the top 10, ranking in at no. 9.

Interestingly, Maisie was another rising name on the top 1,000 list — which probably has something to do with Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams. The character she plays, Arya, was another newly popular name, climbing the list to no. 216.
