Boxing can learn a thing or two from how the Ultimate Fighting Championship operates.

That's what former boxing champion Winky Wright — amongst a host of others, ahem, ahem — is saying.

Wright believes the root of boxing's problems lies with the split in power thanks to several presiding entities in the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF). Giving one person the power to make decisions — the way president Dana White does with the UFC — would be in boxing's best interest, according to Wright.

"The reason UFC is where it's at right now is because Dana White controls everything. He makes it happen," Wright told TMZ Sports.

Wright added: "Dana White doesn't care about records. It's all about you fight the next top guy. If you think you're the best ... we are going to match you up with the best."

Wright does make a solid point. Boxing fans are notoriously kept waiting for the fight they really want to see and most of the time it's due to boxing politics. Then when the fight finally does happen, it's years past its prime ... Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao being a prime example. Meanwhile, in a shorter period of time, the UFC has delivered on the fights the public wants to see, when they want to see them.

Having one presiding power running boxing, all of its councils and cementing major bouts would seemingly cut out the need for so many promoters with so many different agendas. Will it ever happen, though?
