Unlike the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge do not include a removable battery, microSD expansion slot or waterproof capabilities. The upcoming Galaxy S6 Active will bring at least one of those features back, and images of the smartphone have just leaked.

Samsung has been creating spinoff devices for its Galaxy S smartphone line for a couple of years, and last year, it unveiled a spinoff of the Galaxy Note 4 with the introduction of the curved-display Galaxy Note Edge. The company is already off to a great start with its just-released Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, and it's getting ready to release a new member of that family in the form of the Galaxy S6 Active.

The first reports of the Galaxy S6 Active popped up in March and claimed the smartphone would be headed to AT&T just like its predecessors, the Galaxy S4 Active and S5 Active. AT&T has exclusively offered the waterproof smartphones, and it most recently released an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4 Active and is believed to be preparing an update for the S5 Active.

New images of what is reportedly the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active have just leaked. The images show the front and back of the smartphone and look similar to leaked images of the Galaxy S5 Active last year, complete with physical buttons, screws and rugged case. You can also clearly see AT&T's logo on the rear case below the camera and heart rate sensor.

The source claims that the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will have a model number of SM-G920, include a 5.1-inch quad-HD display, octa-core Exynos processor, 16 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front-facing shooter.

There's no word on when the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will be officially announced, but considering AT&T announced the S5 Active in late May of last year, it shouldn't be too far off.
