Mark Zuckerberg may have grabbed headlines at the beginning of the year for announcing that his personal challenge for 2015 would be to read a new book every other week. Facebook subsequently launched a page called "A Year of Books" where users can follow along and join Zuckerberg in his challenge like an online book club.

However, Zuckerberg may have been a little 2000-and-late with this idea, at least in the tech world. Bill Gates has been giving his reading recommendations for years, and he just released his summer reading list for 2015.

In a blog post announcing his summer reading recommendations for this year, Gates admitted that last year's list was a bit too heavy to take to the beach, not in weight but in subject matter. Books on business, dealing with a financial crisis and extinction aren't really the kind of easy, breezy reads you want in the summer, are they?

Thankfully, Gates' summer reading list is a bit lighter this year, again, in terms of content, not physically. Yes, the list still features books on topics with some gravitas, such as science, the universe and statistics, but the facts are presented in easy-to-read, entertaining ways.

"Each of these books made me think or laugh or, in some cases, do both," Gates wrote in the blog post announcing his summer reading list for 2015.

What's summer without a little learning sandwiched in between lazing around anyway?

Without further ado, here are the seven books Gates thinks you should read this summer:

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh
The Magic of Reality by Richard Dawkins
What If? by Randall Munroe
XKCD by Randall Munroe
On Immunity by Eula Biss
How to Lie with Statistics by Darrell Huff
Should We Eat Meat? by Vaclav Smil

Gates also filmed this handy dandy video describing his picks for his 2015 summer reading list, which you can check out below.
