Apple seems to have mistakenly revealed the rumored iPhone 6c on its "iPhone Lightning Dock" page.

Apple launched and released its low-cost iPhone 5c in September 2013. The iPhone 5c is available in various colors and was launched to attract price-sensitive customers. However, the phone lacked lustre and did not do well in comparison to other iPhones.

Since the launch of iPhone 5c the company has not introduced its successor. Moreover, the launch of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus also lead to speculations that Apple will discontinue the iPhone 5c.

However, previous rumors have suggested that the company may launch the iPhone 6c along with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in September this year. Leaked images of a plastic iPhone outer shell, similar to that of iPhone 5c but with some changes, are also doing the rounds online that make many people believe that Apple is working on the iPhone 6c.

Although accidentally, Apple's Lightning Dock page has also hinted at the successor of iPhone 5c. An image on the Lightning Dock page reflected four smartphones: iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s and presumably the iPhone 5c.

Currently, the only iPhones to feature Touch ID are the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The image of the iPhone 5c on the accessory page appears to have Touch ID home button, which has added to speculations that Apple is in fact working on the iPhone 6c. Apart from the Touch ID home button, the phone looked exactly the same as iPhone 5c. Apple has now replaced the image with the actual image of the iPhone 5c.

The images of the iPhone features in Apple's online store page may look real at first glance. However, closer inspection reveals that all three i.e. the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s have a Touch ID button.

The fourth image is speculated to be that of the impending 4-inch iPhone 6c. However, a strong likelihood exists that it is a Photoshop mistake by Apple. How? Someone possibly forgot to toggle a layer in the photo-editing software prior to exporting the picture.

While some market observers believe that the mistake showed a glimpse of the iPhone 6c, some others believe that it was just an image editing error on part of Apple, which has now been rectified.

Rumors suggest that iPhone 6c may become the entry-level iPhone and replace the iPhone 5c as well as the iPhone 5s.

As usual, Apple remains mum on the iPhone 6c and smartphone enthusiasts will have to wait until September this year when the company introduces its new generation iPhones.
