Move over Kim Kardashian as selfies has a new king - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

That's right, the self-proclaimed "Selfish" queen has been ousted from her selfie-obsessed pedestal by Johnson who has set a new Guinness World Record for the maximum number of selfies.

On Thursday, May 22, at the premiere of his upcoming movie San Andreas in London's Leicester Square, Johnson set out to create the Guinness World Record for the maximum number of selfies in just three minutes. The Rock unsurprisingly smashed it and came out on top with 105 selfies on the red carpet with eager fans to his credit.

Johnson used his smartphone (an iPhone in case you were wondering) to take the record number of selfies along with fans. Mark McKinley, the adjudicator for Guinness World Records ensured that all rules were followed such as full neck and face of the participants being visible and no blurry images.

While several images were disqualified, Johnson did manage 105 pictures that were in keeping with the rules. He celebrated his victory by posting a video in Instagram.

"We just set a NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for most self-portraits (selfies) taken in record time (yup, a selfie world record exists and your arm gets a helluva workout)," wrote Johnson on Instagram.

Johnson also posted a video on Vine celebrating his record smashing.

Guinness World Records also lauded his attempt and thanked all the fans who took part in the event.
