One of the biggest reasons that the Batman: Arkham games have been so successful is because of the bad guys. Sure, the Dark Knight's allies have always been great, but the series has always been something of a 'Greatest Hits' for Batman villains: the Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, Ra's al Ghul, the Mad Hatter and Black Mask have all been represented at one time or another, and that's just scratching the surface.

Poison Ivy has always had a big presence in the Batman: Arkham games. In Arkham Asylum, she basically rewrites half of the map later on in the game; in Arkham City, she teams up with Catwoman to take on Hugo Strange's thugs. After that, however, no one knew what happened to Ivy: she wasn't featured in any of the previous Arkham Knight promotional material, and she wasn't listed as one of Scarecrow's new comrades.

As it turns out, Poison Ivy will make an appearance in Batman: Arkham Knight...though it's probably a bit different than most fans would expect.

From the trailer itself, its hard to tell how big of a presence Ivy will have in the final game. After all, she's dropped off at the GCPD Lockup at the end of the video: unless there's a major breakout, it looks like Ivy's appearance may be limited to a short cameo. Of course, there's the chance that Rocksteady has only shown a fraction of Ivy's role in the game - but, from the looks of things, Ivy won't get a whole lot of screentime.

While it's a shame that Ivy herself doesn't get much time to shine, there's plenty of other fantastic footage throughout the trailer. It's the best look at Batman's reworked 'Quick Gadgets' that fans have yet to see, and they're absolutely brutal. For example: in previous games, the Bat-Claw only caused opponents to stumble. Now, it can be used as part of an absolutely vicious combo...and it's only one of the Dark Knight's many gadgets. Hopefully, they're all equally as impressive.

Thankfully, fans won't have too much longer to wait before they get their hands on the game: Batman: Arkham Knight is set for a June 23 release date.
