Due to issues faced by Marvel in the past, the company is now in a position where it is unable to use some of its characters for its own movies.

Many fans already have an idea who these are, but what about the unknowns?

Director of Guardians of the Galaxy James Gunn, who is currently working on part two of the hit film, revealed some of the Marvel characters that are off-limits. We promise that some fans will be upset at what Gunn had to say, but it is the reality of Marvel right now.

In the past, several persons have been wondering if Kang the Conqueror will ever show up in a Marvel movie. The character is one of the best villains in the comics and would do well to serve in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, that is impossible right now due to 20th Century Fox owning the rights to the character.

Kang made his first appearance in a Fantastic Four comic in the past as King Rama-Tut. He adopted the Kang name a year later when he popped up in an Avengers comic. Kang the Conqueror is a villain who is capable of traveling through time, so he possesses the ability to be a worthy villain in the MCU.

At the moment, Fox has yet to use the character, but that might change in the future should the new Fantastic Four movie turn out to be a success story.

In addition to Kang, the aliens, Shi'ar Empire, also belong to 20th Century Fox. Right now, there's nothing much Marvel can do to force Fox to give up the rights, but it can wait and hope all future films from the studio flops. Should Fox manage to mess up as bad as Sony did with The Amazing Spider-Man, we are confident the company will be forced to sign a deal with Marvel.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is the next Marvel movie James Gunn is looking to tackle.
