Asus has finally solved the issues that it was experiencing in updating the operating system of the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 to Android 5.0 Lollipop, with the company already starting the roll out of the latest version of Google's mobile operating system to the aforementioned smartphones.

Asus is pushing out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the three smartphones as an over-the-air update. Users that would like to upgrade the operating system of their devices without having to wait for their smartphone to receive the over-the-air update can also choose to download and install the necessary files themselves.

In the ZenTalk forums, Asus released in detail the changelogs for upgrading the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. In the forum posts, the administrator of the forum wrote that Android 5.0 Lollipop will not support some of the apps that have been pre-installed in the devices.

The pre-installed apps that are incompatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop for the ZenFone 4 are the battery widget, Movie Studio and Google Text-to-Speech.

For the ZenFone 5, the incompatible apps are the battery widget, the PhotoFrame widget, Movie Studio, Cloud Print, CMClient and Magic Smoke Wallpaper.

Lastly, for the ZenFone 6, the incompatible apps are the same ones for the ZenFone 5, plus Google Text-to-Speech.

Upon upgrading the operating systems of the smartphones to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the incompatible apps will be deleted from the devices.

The forum posts also warn that, for the ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6, upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop could cause problems with the Asus Contacts widget, resulting in the widget not properly loading. As a solution to the issue, users are told to remove the old widget and then re-add the new Asus Contacts widget to the Home screen of their smartphones.

For the ZenFone 6, upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop will also cease the device's support for SD cards in NTFS format. As such, for users that have such a memory card in their ZenFone 6, it is recommended that the user first back up all the files in the SD card before upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The update will not be all about deleted apps and compatibility issues though, as upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop will add a long list of features and install new apps to the smartphones.
