How many times have you bought that one extra cat coin purse just to put your order over the edge and make the minimum order for free shipping on Amazon?

Let's be real. Probably too many times to count.

Well, you can now save your money up to buy a full-sized kitty handbag because Amazon is introducing free shipping on thousands of small items without making users meet a minimum amount in their orders, Bloomberg Business reports. These items include things like makeup, mobile phone accessories and earplugs, you know, small stuff that probably doesn't cost as much to ship anyway.

Prior to this move, users had to have a minimum of $35 in their shopping carts to qualify for free shipping on most items or be Amazon Prime members, who usually receive free two-day shipping by subscribing to the service for $99 annually. Now, all Amazon customers will receive free shipping on their orders on items that weigh eight ounces, or 230 grams, or less, which usually cost less than $10, according to Bloomberg Business.

However, this program titled "Fulfillment by Amazon Small and Light" won’t have the same speed as the two-day free shipping that comes with Amazon Prime. The shipments will be going through Amazon’s new shipping center in Florence, Ky. and will take four to eight business days to get to wherever you are.

It seems like this initiative could be a big win for Amazon since the fact that shipping sometimes costs more than the actual items you buy from the site can be a big deterrent for shoppers. This move, along with Amazon’s launch of its grocery delivery service, the AmazonDash device and same-day delivery service, just goes to show that Amazon is increasingly trying to be consumers’ one-stop shop for all goods, big and small.
