A massive 6.8-inch phablet from Lenovo has surfaced on TENAA – China's equivalent of the FCC – indicating that a launch could be just around the corner.

Smartphones have become increasingly larger and a "phablet" category emerged in recent years, with the term suggesting a combination of a phone and a tablet. Various companies are continuing to push the limits in terms of phablet size, and an upcoming phablet from Lenovo further confirms this growing trend.

It remains unspecified at this point just what the device will be called when it hits the market — but for now, it's being referred to by its model number: PB1-770N. A TENAA listing reveals a huge 6.8-inch display, as well as most specifications.

The 6.8-inch display of the phablet will have a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), which would translate to a pixel density of 324 ppi. Under the hood, the device will pack a 1.5GHz octa-core processor (unspecified), coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Other listed specs include 32GB of built-in storage capacity, microSD card support for external memory of up to 64GB, a 13-megapixel main camera with 1080p video shooting capabilities, and a 5-megapixel selfie cam on the front. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. The device will further pack a 3,500 mAh battery, even though it doesn't seem big enough to power such a massive display.

The PB1-770N Lenovo phablet will come with dual-SIM support, and will allow users to make voice calls — provided they don't mind holding a device the size of a tablet up to their ear. In terms of software, the device will run Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

Lenovo has yet to detail plans for launching such a large phablet, and it's unclear as of yet which markets will get to see the device. The Lenovo PB1-770N has received certification from TENAA, which suggests that it could become official in the coming weeks.

More information regarding specs, the phablet's market name, as well as details on pricing and availability, should come to light when Lenovo issues a formal announcement. The specifications don't really hint at a top-notch device, so the PB1-770N should come with an affordable price tag.
