Microsoft has begun pushing out a hotfix for AT&T variants of some Lumia smartphones, which will counter random reboot issues that plague the Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020 and Lumia 830 users.

The update is not the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, but a patch that fixes the random rebooting on the above-mentioned AT&T Lumia Windows Phones, WindowsCentral reported.

Microsoft also pushed out the patch for some of its Lumia smartphones to tackle the rebooting problem last week. The OTA update was released to the Lumia 930 in the U.S. as it would restart on its own when a user was browsing the gallery. Microsoft also pushed out the hotfix to the Lumia 730, Lumia 830 and Lumia 1520 smartphones in India.

Microsoft also acknowledged the rolling out of the patch in its forum on June 11 and clarified that it was intended to "fix a particular problem."

"We identified a problem in some versions of Windows Phone 8.1 that could cause a phone to restart periodically. A critical update will fix this problem. If you're unable to install the update or want to learn more, we can help you fix your phone," wrote Microsoft in its support forum at the time.

The OTA hotfix will likely make its way to your smartphone soon if you're an AT&T user in the U.S. After the application of the patch, your smartphone's OS version will get upgraded to 8.10.14234.375. The firmware version will change to 02040.00021.15063.02004.

If you're not in the U.S. but own a Lumia smartphone, you need not despair as the hotfix is also being pushed out for the Lumia 535 in Sweden. Lumia 630 and Lumia 620 users in India are reportedly also receiving the critical patch.

Additionally, Lumia users in the U.S. who are on Verizon can also rejoice as the Lumia Icon is also benefiting from the critical update.

U.S. users of the Microsoft Lumia who want to manually check if they have received the OTA hotfix for the Lumia Icon, Lumia 1520, Lumia 1020 or Lumia 830 can go to Settings > Phone Updates and tap Check for Phone Updates.
