Samsung is reportedly readying an Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5. Owners of the device who are still experiencing problems with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update they received earlier this year are anxiously awaiting fixes for the various bugs in the new update.

Samsung reportedly has an Android 5.1 Lollipop update in development for its former flagship handset, the Galaxy S5. Insiders divulged that the manufacturer is currently working on an important update for the device that is most likely to be Android 5.1.1.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which were released only months ago, were recently treated to an Android 5.1 Lollipop update on the T-Mobile network. None of the other major U.S. carriers — Verizon, Sprint and AT&T — have followed suit yet, but it appears the newest flagship smartphones from Samsung are first in line to shortly receive the update.

Now, it looks like Samsung is turning its attention to the S6's predecessor, the Galaxy S5, which should come as good news to users of last year's flagship smartphone, many of whom have experienced serious problems with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update they received. Complaints of rapid loss of battery charge, overheating of the device and frozen or lagging apps are widespread, and the UK regional branch of Samsung actually sent out a tweet in April acknowledging the problems.

Micro updates were promised to address the issues but have either remained MIA or been ineffective in many cases. Now, there is hope for a more significant update in the near future, which should bring various performance enhancements to the Galaxy S5 in addition to the bug fixes.

We also recently reported that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is currently being tested on the Galaxy Note 4. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 updates.
