Today is a treat for Star Wars aficionados everywhere: Collider obtained a series of costume test photos of the iconic Boba Fett for his first live-action appearance in 1980's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Even though he was only allotted five lines in the Original Trilogy and only appears on screen for a handful of minutes, Boba Fett has endured as a fan favorite to an almost puzzling degree.

The reason behind it? Most point towards his costume, as Bantha Tracks alluded to in a 1979 newsletter:

The brainchild of director Joe Johnston and conceptual designer Ralph McQuarrie, everyone's favorite intergalatic bounty hunter's aesthetics were originally derived from Darth Vader's look. In contrast to Darth Vader's stark, uniform black, Boba Fett sports grey armor, meant to mirror the character's moral ambiguity.

In a Reddit AMA, Jeremy Bullouch, the British actor who portrayed Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy, also expounded upon his character's popularity and its ties to his sartorial miliarty gear:

"there's [sic] something about the costume. I remember the very first day I put the costume on and looked in the mirror, 'Yes that looks good!' [sic] There's just something about it you don't know [sic] what's going to happen. He has all these gadgets, he has jetpacks, and knee pads. Its not just me, its the character Boba Fett. There's something serious about him."
