Google's latest commercial in its ongoing "Be together, not the same" campaign dramatically highlights the features of Google Translate, arguably the best translation app available for smartphones. This app literally breaks down the language barriers between different cultures and citizenships.

Google says that with this app translating over 100 billion words every day, the most popular phrases interpreted are "Thank you," "I love you," and "How are you?" The narrator in the commercial says the app has brought together people from all over the world with the use of conversation. Posted on Sunday, the video also shows how the app helps travelers become safer with the translations of road safety signs. It also makes trading in foreign markets easier for businesses and customers, says Google.

Recently, Google has incorporated significant improvements to Google Translate to provide real-time translations of texts and spoken words. Google Translate can easily translate between 90 languages as of its last update on February 12 and offers offline support while traveling and easy access to saved translations. Be reminded that Google Translate's offline mode may require a sizable download depending on the user's preferred languages.

Among the supported languages are Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Bulgarian, Cebuano, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Hindi, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Malay, Korean, Mongolian, Myanmar (Burmese), Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Somali, Spanish, Thai, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and Welsh.

Along with handwriting recognition and picture translation, Google also added Word Lens to Google Translate. This feature allows the user to translate a text and provide an automatic voice translation by simply pointing the smartphone's camera at the text. In the future, we can expect more bug fixes and updates for the app as well as more intelligent translations.

Google Translate is available through the Google Play Store for free.
