Nature documentaries aren't exactly exciting. Beautiful? Yes. Educational? Certainly. But exciting? Not really. They are peaceful, calming and occasionally very, very sad, as we watch the struggle between predator and prey.

Unless that documentary happens to be a war between crocodiles and bats, each using futuristic weaponry to blast the other species into oblivion. In that case, sign us up.

That's exactly what YouTuber Blackhawk does in a new video, which features enough explosions to make Michael Bay jealous. Blackhawk took a BBC documentary about freshwater crocodiles hunting bats in Australia and turned it into all-out war. Bats do bombing runs, the crocs shoot lasers out of their mouths, and blood goes everywhere each time a bat is crushed in the jaws of a crocodile leaping from the river. And you thought nature was scary enough already.

If some of the sounds used in the video seem familiar, that's because they are. Blackhawk says they used the sounds of futuristic weapons like the Plasma Pistol, Fuel Rod Cannon and Bolt Shot from Halo 4 to bring this high-octane nature battle to life. Check out the video below.

You know, maybe Michael Bay should direct a nature documentary or two. Maybe it would be good for him. Rather than filling it with CGI and unnecessary explosions, perhaps he would finally be able to embrace his more sensitive, thought-provoking side.

Oh, who are we kidding. He would find a way to insert explosions and scantily clad women. It's what he does, and he does it well. Then we could get more scenes like the epic bat explosion above. The sad part is that we'd all probably watch it, too. After all — it couldn't be any worse than Transformers 4.
