The Samsung Galaxy series has been at the top of the Android food chain ever since the rise of the smartphone, and it's showing no signs of slowing down. The next version of the device, the Galaxy S7 will be no exception.

A number of rumors have been surfacing concerning the new device, including rumors about the release date and specs of the Galaxy S7.

Specs

With the Galaxy S6 having been a major redesign of the Galaxy S series, it is unlikely that the S7 will include a radical change in terms of design. Under the hood, however, we will see a number of upgrades.

To round off the differences between the Galaxy S5 and S6, Samsung included its own Exynos processor in the newer device. It is likely that the company will stick to its guns with the S7, and include a 64-bit Exynos processor, much like the one found in the S6. Of course, the S7 will likely include an upgraded version of the processor, however even if it didn't, it would be above-par in the power department.

Apart from the processor, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will reportedly include a huge 4GB of RAM and options of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage. There are multiple different rumors concerning the S7's camera, with the most speculative suggested that it will be a huge 30MP. The more realistic, however, suggest that we will see a 16MP shooter with OIS.

Last but not least, the display of the Galaxy S7 is up for debate. Some suggest that the company will leap towards a super-crisp 4K display. Of course, this would be an absolutely stunning display; however, the implications on the battery life of the device could be too much. Also related to display are the rumors that the standard version of the device will be curved, similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Release Date

A number of rumors about the release date have been emerging over the past few days, including some that suggest that the Galaxy S7 will be released before the end of 2015 in order to compete with the iPhone 6s. Despite this, these rumors surface every time there is a new Galaxy S device, and Samsung has denied these reports, saying that it will stick to its release schedule. This will peg the release date of the device to be on Feb. 22 at the Mobile World Congress.

Price

Latest reports suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will cost between $750 and $850, with the bump in price being owed to the improved specs and Edge-type display.
