Part one of the two-part, live-action Attack on Titan film will be landing in Japanese theaters this August, but American fans won't have to wait much longer to see the film in theaters stateside.

Funimation, the same company responsible for distributing the latest two Dragon Ball Z films, will be bringing the live action Attack on Titan movie to American theaters this fall. The company has also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film in the states.

The movies are based on a popular manga and anime series of the same name, where humanity lives behind massive walls to protect themselves against the threat of massive man-eating giants known as Titans. The story revolves around a young group of men and women who enlist in their city's armed forces to drive back the Titans after a never before seen "Colossal Titan" breaches the walls.

"FUNimation is honored to host the world premiere of Attack on Titan here in the United States with Toho," Gen Fukunaga, CEO and President of FUNimation Entertainment, says in a press release. "Attack on Titan is truly a worldwide phenomenon and we are excited to bring the live action movie to theaters across the Americas later this fall."

No exact date for the film's release was given, but the U.S. premiere of part one will take place July 14 at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. The film will be in Japanese with English subtitles, and the film's director, Shinji Higuchi, along with stars Haruma Miura and Kiko Mizuhara, will be in attendance.

Japanese movie goers can see the first part of Attack on Titan starting on August 1, with part two coming later on September 19. It's still a little unclear how long western audiences will have to wait for part two after seeing part one, or if the movies will be receiving an English dub for their American release.

You can check out the latest trailer for the film above. After Attack on Titan, director Shinji Higuchi will go on to direct a new Japanese Godzilla film, the first in more than a decade.
