Verizon has pushed out an over the air update for the LG G4 for a few enhancements to the smartphone's performance.

The update, which will change the version of the LG G4's firmware to VS98611A, will introduce a total of three enhancements to the LG G4.

First is the enhanced Folio display while in a call, which is the proprietary Quick Circle case of LG. The update will also improve the display of both contacts and non-contacts in the dialer app, making them appear consistently. Lastly, the update will also introduce the Advanced Calling feature to the smartphone.

As an over the air update, Verizon LG G4 owners may have to wait before the update hits their devices, as it will be rolled out in different times across different locations.

LG has lately announced that there are no plans for an update to the operating system of its flagship G4. The company said that it is not working on an update to bring the smartphone's operating system to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The news could mean that the smartphone will go straight into Android M, the next major version of Google's mobile operating system, along with its predecessor, the G3.

Currently on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the G4 has not had any problems with the operating system. However, it is a different story for G3 users, as the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop wreaked havoc on many G3 units, with battery drainage, slower charging times and disruptions to Wi-Fi connectivity.

As such, it would seem that G3 owners will have to wait for Android M before the issues are fixed.

The G4, however, has had issues on its touchscreen wherein taps made by the user are missed, and lagging when attempting to multitask and switch between big apps. The company has since released an update that will address the issue, but not as an over-the-air update but as a LG Keyboard update through LG Apps.

LG also just set the longest selfie relay chain record using the G4. Held in Mexico City, the record-breaking attempt saw 746 selfies taken by participants using a single G4.

According to an LG representative, the G4 still had "plenty of juice left" after the record number of selfies, but unfortunately, they had ran out of people.
