If you head over to Google's landing page today, you will notice an interesting interactive doodle with a flashing light that lures you to press play.

That's because the Google Doodle for Wednesday, July 7 is honoring the Godzilla co-creator and special effects legend Eiji Tsuburaya.

In celebration of Tsuburaya's 114th birthday, the Google Doodle is an interactive game that lets users make their own action and monster movie.

Once users click play, they are taken through a series of ten steps, featuring different tasks that must be completed to create a movie. The tasks include apply glue to a building to hold up a Google sign, dressing the actor in his costume, controlling a tentacle to destroy buildings, lighting the set, connecting a harness, and smashing and swatting.

In the final step, the user must follow the hero, Ultraman, before an avatar of Tsuburaya pops up to applaud your movie-making skills.

Known as the "Godfather" of Japanese special effects, Tsuburaya worked on about 250 movies including Power Rangers and Pacific Rim, Ultraman and Godzilla. The Doodle pays tribute to the live action genre called "Tokusatsu," which Tsuburaya is credited with bringing to mainstream movies.

Doodler Jennifer Hom visited Tsuburaya Productions for inspiration, and said she was "resolved to make a Doodle that could show how fun, fast, and totally chaotic the Tokusatsu filmmaking process can be."
