With so many channels and websites that offer new movies and possibly mesmerizing TV series to follow, it's interesting to note how each one is gearing up to get viewers' attention.

One name has proven itself by delivering titillating and thought-provoking series, but it is not done with viewers yet. Netflix has announced the release dates of its original movies and begins its journey into original movie-making with Beasts of No Nation.

The movie, directed by Cary Fukunaga, will be released on Oct. 16 on Netflix's video streaming service. For those who prefer a theater ambience, the movie will also be in select U.S. theaters.

Beasts of No Nation stars Idris Elba, and the movie is based on the novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala. Elba will play the role of a warlord who takes an orphaned boy under his guidance and the story will focus on life with mercenary fighters.

Newcomer Abraham Attah plays the role of Ague, the orphaned boy forced to join the militant unit. The war drama script was written by Fukunaga himself after having worked on it for seven years. The fact that Fukunaga worked tirelessly to develop the film and tie up with Netflix to help bring it to life is an indication that this is one movie that will grip the hearts and challenge the ideals of those who have not read the novel yet.

Beasts of No Nation might be a little too heavy to watch for some, but fear not because Netflix has three more original movies up its sleeve to cater to your viewing pleasure. Netflix original movies to look out for include Adam Sandler's The Ridiculous Six, Pee-wee's Big Holiday and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend.
