Upcoming first-person, sci-fi shooter Halo 5: Guardians may not run in 1080p, because a twitch-tight 60 frames per second is higher up the list of objectives for 343 Industries, one of the game's producers revealed this week.

Chris Lee, the game's lead producer, lately told GamingBolt that both Halo 5: Guardian's single player campaign and multiplayer mode will run at 60 fps. But while 1080p would be nice, it may not be delivered, he said.

"So, we're still optimizing the game as we haven't launched so we haven't locked in our final resolution yet," Lee said. "But we will talk more about that in the future."

For those ready to point their fingers at the Xbox One's eSRAM, Lee asserted that the console's memory locker didn't cause any problems for the studio.

The next full serving of Halo 5 news should arrive shortly, as Microsoft is planning a heavy showing of Xbox's upcoming games during the company's time at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.

Microsoft has planned several Halo-specific sessions for the convention. In a Friday session entitled "Hunt For the Truth: Following the Trail of the Halo 5: Guardians Story" that provides a bit more back story about the game's dualistic campaign.

For those thirsting for some gameplay, Microsoft will be demoing Halo 5: Guardians' new Warzone map at the Xbox One booth over the weekend.

"Be one of the first to play Warzone, the brand new Halo 5: Guardians massive-scale multiplayer mode we unveiled at E3, as it makes its first public hands-on appearance," says Microsoft. "Dive into epic 24-player battles with both friendly and enemy AI to complete a variety of objectives, and try to keep your cool and as the action keeps getting more and more intense."

Halo 5: Guardians releases globally on Oct. 27 as an Xbox One exclusive. And with just over three more months left, we can expect the details about the game to keep on rolling out. That's also time enough to find more efficiency and ultimately reach that 1080p 60 fps standard.

"Halo 5: Guardians continues the story of the Master Chief, and introduces a brand new central character to the Halo universe - Spartan Locke," says Microsoft. "Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. And when humanity's greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy."
