Just in time for Comic-Con, Lucasfilm and Disney have released what's being called the official Star Wars app. It's a one-stop hub for all things Star Wars and it's packed with features.

The first time you fire up the app, you'll be asked your age, and then to login with your Disney ID or create a new one. Next you get to pick from three user interfaces: Light Side, Dark Side, or Droids. From there, you're presented with the main menu.

There's loads to explore, like a camera feature that lets you take a Star Wars selfie as a Jedi, X-Wing pilot, Princess Leia with hair buns, or Han Solo frozen in carbonite. You can customize the background, the Star Wars character shown over your shoulder and even the color of your lightsaber (assuming you're the Jedi). Speaking of lightsabers, another feature is a "Force Trainer" mini game that lets you wield a virtual lightsaber against a training drone, just as Luke did in the first movie.

A collection of fun animated GIFs is available to instantly copy-and-paste to any app, and it even includes a few from The Force Awakens. A nifty weather feature shows you your local conditions by comparing them to a planet featured in the movies. It has parallax imagery that moves with your phone. A sound board gives you audio clips and sound effects, while a countdown timer ticks down to the release of The Force Awakens in December.

One of the coolest features will be made use of at San Diego Comic-Con, which begins tonight. At the Star Wars booth (#2913), an augmented reality poster is on display that attendees can scan into the app to unlock a 3D character from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There's more, like the latest news, videos, other apps, social media and "Today In Star Wars History." It's an impressive app loaded with plenty of features — and Lucasfilm is promising to continually add more to it — so if you're at all interested in Star Wars, we highly recommend downloading it. It's free for both iPhone and Android.
