There's been an influx of rumors about BlackBerry recently, the most prominent of which is that the company is considering releasing Android-based BlackBerry devices in the future.

Such rumors are all caused by images of the purported devices being leaked over the Internet. This time, however, the leak involves domain names that are rumored to have been recently snagged by the Canadian-based smartphone maker.

The latest report reveals that BlackBerry has just purchased not just one but two domain names that have been identified as AndroidSecured.com and AndroidSecured.net. Initially, however, one might have the impression that the domain names are registered under MarkMonitor. Looking closer, it becomes more apparent that the registrant organization is none other than BlackBerry Limited. There's even an indication of the company's headquarters location of Ontario, Canada.

While it may seem unclear why the company has made such a move, some speculations say that the new domains would be used for promoting BlackBerry-made Android handsets. Since the company has reiterated several times that security in their products is their utmost concern, running sites that are "Android Secured" will absolutely help them in promoting Android products that are safe and secure.

There are actually two new BlackBerry handsets running on Android that are expected to launch in the future. The rumored handsets are said to carry on the company's well-loved physical QWERTY keyboard upon release. One of them, codenamed BlackBerry Venice, will sport a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Android navigation buttons and the ubiquitous BlackBerry logo. This model is slated to be an AT&T carrier phone with a formal network debut in November.

Other features of the BlackBerry Venice include a 5.4-inch quad-HD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, 16 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera and Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processer.

The other rumored device carries the codename BlackBerry Prague, which is scheduled to launch as soon as August. Unlike the Venice, which is projected as a high-end phone, the Prague will more likely be an entry-level handset akin to the BlackBerry Z3.

It's also no secret that BlackBerry has made certain moves to revive the appeal of its OS by adding compatibility features with Android apps. After launching the BlackBerry 10 OS, it became much easier for users to install Android apps on their BlackBerry devices.

BlackBerry hasn't really yet confirmed the company's domain rendezvous. It is somehow expected that more leaks will show up as the year closes in on its second half.
