It looks like Riverdale won't be Archie's only home: it has been confirmed that Riverdale, a one-hour drama based off of the Archie universe has joined the programming line-up at the CW.

The news was verified at Comic-Con 2015 by Archie Comics' chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Saracasa, who is also writing the pilot for the show.

Captaining Riverdale is producer Greg Berlanti, who, as of late, has had a string of CW-related successes, which include Arrow, The Flash and the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow; in addition to these, other producing gigs include CBS's Supergirl and NBC's The Mysteries of Laura.

Aguirre-Sacasa is no Archie newbie, either, authoring Afterlife Life With Archie, which posits Riverdale in a zombiefied universe, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, an intense and dark reboot of the originally kitschy Sabrina the Teenage Witch universe.

Some iterations of the beloved classic American character Archie Andrews have been around since he first appeared in the 1941's Pep Comic #22.

The new Archie live action dramatization coincides with an entire reboot of the series, which aims to contemporize Archie and the gang by exchanging the Rockwellian atmosphere of Riverdale with a more cutting edge, naturalist vibe. The first installment in the reboot, Archie #1, was released this week to positive reviews. The new line was written by Mark Waid and drawn by Fiona Staples.

Berlanti's television equivalent seems to fall in line with this, something that the CW — home of the teenage soap — is known for.

"When Greg and I started talking about bringing these characters to life, our first thought was that the best home for them would be the CW," Aguirre-Sacasa relayed to Deadline in an interview. "It took a little longer for us to get there, but now that we're here, it's feeling terrific."
