AT&T is now selling Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge on reduced prices on contract, which would make it easier for users to acquire the high-end devices.

AT&T's price for the Galaxy Note 4 is now only $99.99, and that of the Galaxy Note Edge is now only $199.99. These prices represent a $200 discount compared to the original price of $299.99 and $399.99, respectively.

Upon the release of the Galaxy Note Edge in November of last year in the United States, the smartphone was one of the most expensive offerings of Samsung ever. The price was $399.99 on contract, which is still the price for customers looking to acquire the smartphone under the Verizon network. For Sprint customers, the device is even more expensive at $429.99.

It should be noted that the discounted prices for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are not promotional offers with a limited time. The $200 discount to purchase the Galaxy Note 4 for $99.99 and the Galaxy Note Edge for $199.99 will require the customer to avail of a two-year contract with AT&T.

The discounted price from AT&T for the Galaxy Note 4 comes after Samsung's recent announcement of a promotion to provide customers with a $200 rebate when they purchase the smartphone from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon.

However, for customers to be able to qualify for the rebate, they would first have to purchase the Galaxy Note 4 at full price. From AT&T, the smartphone has a price tag of $845.99, and with a rebate of $200, customers can acquire the device for only $645.99 unlocked without a contract.

Samsung is releasing the promotion to clear out inventory for the upcoming release of the device's successor, the Galaxy Note 5. Samsung is expected to unveil more details about the smartphone at the IFA, which is drawing near with the event running from Sept. 4 to Sept. 9.

Similar to Samsung's decision to drop microSD card memory expansion and a removable battery for current flagship devices Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it is expected that the company will do the same for the Galaxy Note 5. This has upset many Note fans, with some stating that they will not upgrade from Galaxy Note 4 to Galaxy Note 5 due to the omitted features.
