PlayStation 4 owners will get first dibs on playing the much awaited Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta when the game is launched on Aug. 19 through Aug. 23. The game will remain exclusive to the PS4 console for five days only and no official word yet has been made on how long it will remain that way.

Call of Duty fans who were lucky enough to play the Black Ops 3 Zombie Escape Room Challenge at E3 will be among those first in line to download the PS4 exclusive beta. Included in the swag bag they received for playing the room challenge was a 30 free play card for PlayStation Plus, among other Call of Duty and Black Ops 3 goodies.

The official announcement was made by Activision and Treyarch Studios via a Twitter post made on July 9.

According to reports, this exclusive deal was made as part of Activision's agreement with Sony to launch all Black Ops 3 DLCs and this multiplayer beta on Sony's PlayStation first. In previous releases, Activision had been launching its game titles on Xbox platforms before releasing the games to other consoles.

If you're one of those who are itching to start shooting zombies in this post-apocalyptic zombie game, play will be open but you can guarantee yourself beta access by preordering a copy of the game. Those who preorder a physical copy of the game at retailers will get a redeemable code, while those who preorder digitally will simply be able to download the beta once Aug. 19 rolls in.

No official date has been set for when the beta will be opened up to Xbox One or Windows PC, but Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released in full to Xbox One and PlayStation 3 on Nov. 9.
