EA's Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most anticipated games of the year, but despite that we haven't seen much of the actual game in action. The curtain was officially thrown off the game in April at Star Wars Celebration, where fans were treated to an "in-engine" trailer but not actual gameplay footage. Then at E3, a brief gameplay demo was shown for those who waited patiently towards the very end of EA's press conference.

Thankfully a lucky few had the privilege of participating in the game's recent closed alpha, and they were kind enough to upload the footage to the web for all to enjoy. YouTuber account Parallax Live has compiled some of the best Battlefront alpha footage into one massive 45 minute gameplay video, and it's our best look at the game yet.

You can check out the gameplay for yourself at the bottom of this post. Over the course of 45 minutes you'll get to see a number of the weapons players can choose from in the game, from the always reliable E-11 Blaster Rifle to rocket launchers and thermal detonators. All the gameplay takes place on one of the game's Hoth maps on the Walker Assault game mode.

The Empire must defend a pair of AT-AT walkers and push to the Rebel base, while the Rebels must do everything in their power to bring the two AT-ATs down. Players call in orbital strikes and pilot various vehicles over the course of the video as well, ranging from the Tie Fighter to the two-legged AT-ST walker.

Much of the footage shown is from the first person perspective, but some shows what the game will play like in third person. As always, the game looks gorgeous, and keep in mind this is on an alpha build of the game. From the look of the Stormtroopers to the crushed snow that is left in the wake of the AT-AT, DICE has definitely nailed the visuals and audio. No other game has looked and sounded so perfectly Star Wars.

But is it any fun? That will be for players to decide when the game officially launches on Nov. 17 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
