Apple is done with 16GB phones and, from here onward, all of the company's phones will start out with a base capacity of at least 32GB, according to reports.

The Cupertino company is expected to release its follow-up to last year's iPhone 6 series with "s" editions of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

M.I.C. Gadget, its name an acronym for Made In China, claims to have spoken with sources inside Apple's supply chain. The blog says it has learned that all the evidence points to a move away from 16GB storage capacities.

"We can't tell you from what Foxconn's department we received information, but we can only say that the packaging of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus don't have sticker with '16GB capacity,'" shared M.I.C. Gadget's Chan Zhuang.

All of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus' stickers mention storage capacities of either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB, according to Zhuang.

There's still a chance that 16GB iPhones will still come out of production lines and into the pockets and purses of consumers. Those hoping for a new 16GB iPhone may have to pin their hopes on an iPhone 6c, which would come at least two years after Apple confused the industry and tacked a "c" onto the end of an iPhone 5.

If Apple does indeed release a "c" version of its iPhone 6 series, pundits expect the handset to rock Apple's A7 processor with its M7 processor providing support. The iPhone 6c is also expected to have a 4-inch display, though pundits appear conflicted on that note and still, others assert that a smaller iPhone 6 will ship at some point in the first quarter of 2016.

All should be revealed in about two months, which is when Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, separated only by display size, will have a 12MP rear camera, shoot 4K video, include more battery capacity and include Force Touch, if all of the rumors surrounding the 6s are true. It's expected to be driven by the Apple A9 processor and stocked with 2GB of RAM.
