CD Projekt Red's long list of free DLC for the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is finally coming to an end when the developer rolls out a New Game Plus mode for their already-massive RPG. The new mode was announced Monday without any further details, but CD Projekt Red is now elaborating on what Witcher 3's New Game Plus will mean for Geralt's adventures.

Once you've completed the game, you will have the option of starting again with New Game Plus. Only you won't be starting from scratch. CD Projekt Red's community lead Marcin Momot says money, recipes, weapons and armor will all carry over to your new game. If you are over level 30, you will start New Game Plus at the same level at which you finished your first playthrough. If your Geralt is under level 30 and you select New Game Plus, the game will automatically boost your character up to 30. Players will also receive a "clearing potion" upon starting their new game, which resets all of Geralt's skills, allowing experimentation with new builds on the second playthrough.

All those extra levels and end-game equipment at the start of the game come at a cost, however. Enemies will be made stronger across the board, regardless of which difficulty you choose. If you want to go harder or easier overall, you will be able to select that at the start of New Game Plus as well.

So what doesn't carry over to New Game Plus? Gwent cards — to the despair of many digital card collectors out there. Quest items, trophies, books and letters and usable items will also be lost upon starting a new game.

New Game Plus modes have become a popular way for developers to entice gamers to play through a game for a second time, upping the challenge without forcing players to lose all of their hard-earned levels, items and upgrades. Batman: Arkham Knight also features a New Game Plus mode that ups the game's difficulty in exchange for letting players keep their upgrades to Batman's suit and Batmobile.

No word yet on exactly when Witcher 3's New Game Plus mode will go live, but considering how much content is already in the game, most players can probably afford to wait a while. In the meantime, gamers can check out the numerous free pieces of DLC available for Witcher 3 right now.
