Mac OS X users can now easily jailbreak their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 8.4. Here's a guide on how to use the just-released TaiG jailbreak for Mac tool.

As advanced as both iOS and Android are, there are still ways to enhance, add features, change the UI and more by either jailbreaking an iOS device or rooting an Android device. This can be easily achieved using software tools created by developers for your mobile OS of choice.

We recently created a step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak any iOS device running iOS 8.4 using the TaiG jailbreak tool. The software was initially released for Windows users only and made it super simple to jailbreak an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you were a Mac user, you could still use the TaiG for Windows jailbreak tool by creating a Windows virtual machine on your Mac by using an app like Parallels, which allows Mac users to run several different operating systems, including Windows.

Thanks to the just-released TaiG jailbreak for Mac tool, OS X users don't have to go through the hassle of setting up a virtual machine and can simply download the software and run it natively on their Macs to jailbreak any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 8.4. I was easily able to jailbreak my iPhone 6 using my MacBook Air quickly and painlessly in minutes and wanted to share how to do the same if you're also a Mac user wanting to jailbreak your iOS device.

I highly recommend that, before you take the leap in jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you perform a full backup of your device either using iTunes or iCloud, just in case anything possibly goes wrong. Once you've completely backed up your iOS device, you're now ready to move onto actually using TaiG's Mac jailbreak tool. Here's a step-by-step guide to walk you through the process.

1.   Download the TaiG jailbreak for Mac tool, which allows you to jailbreak iOS 8.1.3 to iOS 8.4. Once the file is finished downloading, open the .dmg file and drag the TaiG jailbreak tool to your Applications folder.

2.   Make sure you completely close iTunes before you open up TaiG. Once iTunes is completely closed, double-click the TaiG jailbreak tool you dragged into your Applications folder.

3.   Once TaiG opens, it should automatically recognize your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Make sure you uncheck the 3K assistant option and keep the Cydia option checked.

4.   Click the Start button and the process will automatically begin. You'll see a progress indicator that shows you all the steps being performed, and your device will reboot a couple of times. In a few minutes, you'll see a success message that your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch has been successfully jailbroken.

Unplug your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and find Cydia on your home screen and open the app. Cydia will perform an update, and once it's finished, you can begin installing popular apps, tweaks and enhancements that will allow you to customize your device and make it do things Apple never intended.
