A number of customers have been complaining all over social media about Honest Company's Sunscreen Lotion saying that the product sold by the Invisible Woman has caused visible, prominent sunburns on their skin.

Jessica Alba's all-natural SPF 30 sunscreen comes in a stick, spray bottle or a tube of lotion to give its buyers a range of choices. Some have posted online reviews approving the products, but some have also given the thumbs down particularly on the Honest Sunscreen Lotion.

Twitter user Lindsy Marshall from Redondo Beach, for one, says that unless you want to get sun-fried, don't purchase the product.

In Naperville, mom Gretta Stabler said she has a strong family history of skin cancer, and trusted the eco-friendly Honest Company Lotion because of its SPF 30 label, and zinc oxide content. During an outing to Cosco, Gretta applied the sunscreen on her six-year-old daughter Maggie, four times in three hours. The angry Naperville mom, however, saw that her daughter had gotten sunburns on her arms, legs, shoulder and face. In Denver, another unsatisfied customer Brandon Atherton also tweeted a photo of his sunburnt head, after only an hour of staying under the sun.

The Honest Sunscreen Lotion was reported to have reduced its zinc oxide from 20 percent to 9.3 percent. Other brands use zinc oxide as its main sunscreen ingredient, making up about 18 to 25 percent.

The company did say that when they decreased the sunscreen's zinc oxide content, they replaced it with other ingredients to make still effective. It also explained that the lotion was tested by a third party, against FDA protocols for sunscreen products bought over the counter.

"The results showed that our product is effective and safe for use as an 80 minute water-resistant (FDA's highest rating), SPF 30 sunscreen lotion in accordance with FDA regulations when used as directed."

The all-natural sunscreen must be shaken well, applied 15 minutes before going out under the sun and reapplying every 80 minutes of swimming or sweating (after towel drying) or at least every two hours.

Since April, over two hundred complaints about the sunscreen have reached the company's website. This totals to less than half of one percent of the total sunscreens sold online by the company. Honest Company said it is looking seriously into the complaints. In Lindsy's tweet, the company responded, requesting her to send them a direct message so it can help.

Chicago dermatologist Marjorie Rosenbaum said all-natural products are not necessarily better, while chemicals are not always bad. While she did not comment on Honest Sunscreen specifically, she mentioned it could be still more reliable to use products that have been there for a while and tested effective by many.
