The BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition may be slowly turning heads, but one rumored upcoming smartphone from BlackBerry is beginning to steal the limelight thanks to reports that it will be the first device from the Canadian smartphone maker to run on Android.

Crackberry has released what are purportedly internal renders of the BlackBerry Venice, the rumored upcoming slider Android phone from BlackBerry. According to the leaks, the Venice will have an 18 MP camera with optical image stabilization for its primary camera and, very possibly, support for Google Chromecast.

As seen in the rendered photo breakdown of the Venice’s camera layers, the phone will have the similar glass weave pattern found on the BlackBerry Z30 and could possibly have a stainless steel frame.

The images also suggest that the forthcoming device will have the similar look of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge, with the display curving around the phone's edges'

The handset is reported to have a 5.4-inch display with 1440 x 2560 screen resolution and will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip and 3GB RAM to ensure fast and smooth performance.

Though users of BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry's current OS, have access to Android apps via the Amazon Appstore, they have no access to Chromecast, Google's popular streaming TV dongle compatible only with Android phones. But one of the images indicate that the Venice will be able to support Chromecast.

Other reports have also stated that the Venice will be heading to AT&T and T-Mobile for its launch.

All these images and reports sound exciting, but as Crackberry says: “These are presumably internal renders and as such, they can't be 100 percent confirmed.”

BlackBerry has yet to comment on the leaked images and confirm any of the reports, but until then we must take everything with a grain of salt and consider them as interesting rumors that are waiting to be validated.
