Apple unveiled Boot Camp 6 this week, the latest version of its multiboot utility that lets users run Windows on their Macs. The version, although rumored to have several expansions, will support 64-bit versions of Windows 10 when used with a supported Mac.

According to Apple, the Mac features that Boot Camp 6 supports include drivers for USB 3 and USB-C type ports found on the 12-inch MacBook Retina models, Thunderbolt port, and compatibility with built-in SD and SDXC connections, built-in or external Apple SuperDrives, and support for the mouse, keyboard and trackpad.

The update also supports 64-bit versions of Windows 10 for most previous versions of the Mac (dating back to the mid-2012 models). Given Apple's growing support for Windows 10, updates regarding inefficient battery life and hardware connectivity issues don't seem too far-fetched.

In order for the update to run without any hiccups, users will have to be running OS X Yosemite, and should download automatically for anyone already running Boot Camp 5.
