Google ceased selling the Nexus 5, the company's 2014 flagship smartphone powered by its Android mobile operating system, earlier this year. However, it seems that the device will soon be returning to the market with a revamped version.

Previous reports have suggested that Google was developing the new Nexus 5 with two manufacturers, namely China-based Huawei and South Korea-based LG, with the Huawei Nexus 5 featuring a 5.7-inch screen and the LG version featuring a 5.2-inch display.

A leaked photo of what is supposed to be the LG Nexus 5 has been uploaded through a tweet by Marques Brownlee, revealing what could be the first look at the highly anticipated Android smartphone.

The image shows the back of a white smartphone with the Nexus lettering. The base of the smartphone features a small red, circular logo that appears to be that of LG, while the top of the device shows the lens of the device's camera.

Located right below the camera lens of the supposed LG Nexus 5 smartphone is another circle, which could be the rumored fingerprint scanner for the device.

There have been previous reports that Google is looking forward to launch the LG Nexus 5 by October, with the device said to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 620 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The LG Nexus 5 is said to have internal memory storage of 64GB with a non-removable 3,180 mAh battery

Reports also said that the smartphone will have a 13MP rear-facing camera with a dual-tone LED flash, optical image stabilization and laser autofocus, and a 4MP front-facing camera with RGB-IR sensor and iris detection.

There has also been a leaked video concerning the Huawei version of the Nexus 5, with the video said to be showing a prototype of the smartphone.

The slightly shaky video shows a device with the trademark look of Huawei's devices with a black back cover that closely resembles that of the Huawei Honor 7. A supposed fingerprint reader can also be seen at the device's back.

While LG is already a trusted partner by Google in manufacturing devices, the partnership for the Nexus 5 is the first one between Google and Huawei. Google is looking to expand its presence in the ballooning Chinese market, while Huawei is hoping that its partnership for the Nexus 5 will allow it to improve its reputation in the United States.
